The Town of Chevy Chase is a large residential community located in Montgomery County, MD, just northwest of Washington, D.C. It is bordered on the south by Western Avenue, which serves as the dividing line between D.C. and Montgomery County, and extends north to the Capital Beltway. In addition to a town, there is also a village and an unincorporated area known as Chevy Chase. Both of these places are also located in Montgomery County and all considered to be the community of ‘Chevy Chase’.
Although the town was incorporated in 1918, it wasn’t until recently – in the 1990s – that the town saw exponential growth. Perhaps one of the main factors for this immense growth was the town’s proximity to Washington D.C. which is easily accessible for Chevy Chase residents, thanks in large part to the Metro, which is the subway system for the Greater Washington, D.C. area. Recently there was a study done of the cities in the United States that had the most post
graduate degrees. Chevy Chase came in #2 in the whole US!
